Embedding Music Notation on your WEB-Site
Using GUIDO Music Notation
it is very easy to embed Conventional Music Notation in WEB pages. By
using GUIDO in conjunction with the GUIDO NoteServer it is possible
to display musical examples that can be changed and updated very
quickly. It is also possible to create musical examples dynamically.
- How do I get GUIDO descriptions of music?
- Use the JAVA-Keyboardinterface. This JAVA
applet makes it easy to create GUIDO descriptions by using a virtual
piano keyboard.
- Type the descriptions manually using any text editor. This
solution may sound awkward, but experienced users can create scores
quickly this way.
- Convert existing MIDI files to GUIDO using MIDI2GMN. MIDI2GMN is
constantly being developed and improved. Please look again later for a
link to the current version.
- Convert scores files from other notation programs. We are currently
working on converters from FINALE and SIBELIUS. A prototypical
converter from Capella and abc also exists. Another project is trying
to convert MuseData files. Please stay tuned for an update of these
current projects.
- Use Optical Score Recognition. One project is currently working on
converting sheet music into GUIDO. Please stay tuned for an update of this project.
- How can I get Conventional Music Notation if I have a GUIDO
description?
- Use the GUIDO NoteServer
to get a GIF picture. Save the GIF file and include it in the
HTML-code using the <img> Tag.
-
Use the extended URL provided by the NoteServer to get an automatically
updated picture everytime you load your page. This URL is displayed at
the bottom of the result-page when you receive output from the noteserver.
- Use JAVAScript in conjunction
with the NoteServer. Look here for
a demonstration.
- Use the NoteServer-JAVA-applet for
scrollable scores. Look here for a demonstration.
- We have also developed a prototype for interactive score display
using JAVA. This will be made available in the future.
